If you find this interesting, then you may also like to attend the SLanguages conference in May 2009. SLanguages is the conference for language education in virtual worlds. You can find more information on the website: http://www.slanguages.net.
There are many institutions using virtual worlds such as Second Life for language education, including the British Council, Goethe Institut, Instituto Cervantes and lots of universities around the world. If you are interested in a longer list, do take a look at the SLanguages.net website.
